Houston Dragon Academy successfully finished the summer semester
May 14th , 2018
On March 18, 2018, the spring break ended and Houston Dragon Academy (HDA) started a new semester. Wang Rong, president of HDA and all staff at HDA started to teach in the new semester. Houston Dragon Academy is one of the cooperative teaching centers of the Texas Southern University Confucius Institute (TSUCI). Some of the faculty members are volunteer Chinese teachers from the Texas Southern University Confucius Institute.
The teachers of HDA are all graduated from well known universities in China and the United States, such as, University of Houston, East China Normal University, Central South University, Northeast Normal University, Ocean University of China, Hunan University, Hunan Normal University, and Shanghai University of Finance. What worth mentioning is that Wang Rong, president of HDA, graduated from the University of Houston with a Master degree of Business Administration and is currently teaching at a public high school. She has nearly ten years of teaching experience in public schools in the United States. In 2016, she was selected as the most popular and influential top 50 teachers among the nearly 50 public and private schools and nearly 10,000 teachers on the Galveston coast. Miss Wu, who is the fourth-grade class teacher of HDA, is from Beijing, China. She has 30 years of teaching experience and also a Zijin Cup winner in Beijing. She is very welcomed by students and their parents.
On April 22, 2018, with the support of the TSUCI, HDA successfully held the fifth National HSK. This HSK test is the first time that TSUCI has ever set up an examination room at the teaching center. Nearly 50 people took the examinations at the test center. The examination levels range from the first to the fourth. TSUCI dispatched Chinese teachers to help with this test. And all HDA teachers work together to train all students enrolled in the exam.
As a volunteer Chinese teacher from TSUCI, Zeng Yuanman made her students understand the exam importance. She trained the students mainly in two aspects: test questions and practicing. After one month of training and reinforcement learning, her students have a more comprehensive understanding and mastery of the HSK test and have significantly improved the level of Chinese.
In May, 2018, HDA teachers and students actively prepared for the graduation ceremony on May 18, 2018. The heads of each class led the students to practice and rehearse, allowing students to perform rehearsals of all programs in Chinese in a relaxed atmosphere. Parents are very much looking forward to this graduation ceremony and have a high level of enthusiasm. We believe that with the joint efforts of all teachers and students and the strong cooperation of parents, this graduation ceremony will surely be a complete success!
