The Volunteer Teacher Bo Wang in TSUCI’s Teaching Spot Garden Oak Montessori Magnet

Bo Wang, a Chinese a volunteer teacher from TSUCI , currently teaches elementary Chinese at Garden Oaks Montessori Magnet school, this is a public school within the Houston Independent School District (HISD). Garden Oaks Montessori Magnet’s principal Dr.Pollock has traveled to China and is very interested in the colorful atmosphere of Chinese culture and language. The students are not only passionate about learning Chinese, but also often spontaneously organize a wide variety of Chinese language and cultural activities.

This semester is the first year of Chinese program being at Garden Oaks Montessori School. There are 850 students enrolled in the School and many plan on participating in the program. Among them, the seventh and eighth grade Chinese courses are elective courses, and the other grades are in different Chinese clubs.

The volunteer teacher Bo Wang shoulders the task of a good start. Bo Wang is confident about her Chinese teaching. She said: “TSUCI attaches great importance to teacher training and frequently organizes discussion and training on Chinese teaching. It provides many opportunities for learning and promotion for volunteer teachers who have questions of Chinese teaching."
